Terri publicly marked the 17th anniversary of Steve death earlier this year, on September 4, by paying a solemn tribute to him.

The wildlife star shared a rarely seen photo of Steve sitting crouched in a hut with a dog next to him, with light illuminating him.

Terri kept it brief but deeply meaningful on the 17th anniversary of her husband’s death, leaving the caption, ‘Remembering Steve,’ with just a singe red love heart.

Steve tragically died when a stingray barb pierced his chest on September 4, 2006, while filming near Batt Reef, Queensland, in his native Australia.

He was just 44-years-old at the time.

Terri famously took over Australia Zoo after being widowed with the couple’s two children.

Irwin and her children Bindi, 25, and Robert, 19, have worked hard in the years since Steve’s passing to keep his conservation legacy alive.
