Terrifying moment base jumper leaps blindly into a sea of dense fog after scaling a towering antenna

A solo adventurer who is travelling the world jumping off tall objects was ‘petrified’ as he leapt from an antennae in such thick fog he could not see the ground.

In a video posted yesterday the base jumper, who runs a Youtube channel called Base Weekly and lives in Germany, films himself jumping off the structure.

And heavy fog doesn’t put him off, even as he admits being ‘pretty scared’ when it comes to climbing ladders, when he finds a tall antennae in the middle of fields.

‘This is one of my best jumps so far. Totally different when you can’t see the ground when you are falling,’ he posted alongside the video.

Once the Youtuber has climbed the antennae he films himself talking in to a camera he has attached to his helmet while standing on a platform at the top.

‘Good morning welcome to Base Weekly. I am just the the top of a nice big antennae,’ he says.

‘I’ve been road tripping around trying to find objects.

It is clear from graffiti on the sides of the platform that the Youtuber is not the first person to climb to the top of the antennae just for fun - as others have scribbled their names and dates

‘This was a petrifying climb but I am pretty scared on all of these antennae climbs, ladders and stuff don’t agree with me but you gotta do them to get up here.’

Suddenly he cuts off mid-sentence to point out a trap in the floor which gives way when he places his foot on it.

Calling it an ‘ankle breaker’ he seems to have been scared by his misstep.

Free falling for a matter of seconds he pulls a cord and his parachute opens up behind him. He then grabs two handles to control the direction he is going

‘I nearly tripped on this thing, ankle breaker for sure,’ he adds.

‘I am just going to climb up on to the roof and there’s a fair bit of wind up here but nothing on the ground so fingers crossed should be all good.

‘Lets see what happens.’

After around 20 seconds a field of corn appears beneath him and he is forced to turn his parachute to avoid landing in the middle of the crops

Climbing up another level to get to the roof the Youtuber finds it difficult to close the trap door he has just climbed up from.

Once the trap is shut again he takes a moment to admire the view before counting down from three, saying ‘send it’ and launching himself off the roof.

‘Lucky I got that turn in when I did or I would have landed deeper in the cornfield.’
