- A contractor was driving his tractor when a snake slithered onto his windshield
- It took five minutes of wipers and washer fluid to dislodge the determined reptile
- The man is ’99 per cent sure’ that it was only a non-venomous green tree snake
This is the terrifying moment a huge snake slithered up a tractor driver’s windscreen.
Karl Jarling was driving half a kilometre down a road in Gympie, Queensland, when something huge slid across his windscreen, blocking his view and giving him a fright.
‘Next thing I know, this metre and a half snake has come out to say “G’day”,’ Mr Jarling told the Gympie Times on Thursday.
Mr Jarling was driving down the road when a 1.5m snake slithered onto his tractor’s windshield
Mr Jarling believes the snake crawled into the tractor in the middle of the night and was then dislodged by the engine’s vibrations.
He tried to nudge the snake off the windshield with his wipers, but had little luck.
‘I pulled over and turned the wipers on full bore and used the washer fluid on him a couple of times,’ he explained.
‘But he took about five minutes to get the message.’
Karl was forced to use his windscreen wipers, soap and water to dislodge the huge reptile
Mr Jarling isn’t a fan of snakes, but his wife and daughters thought the whole incident was rather amusing when he told them about it later.
He showed the pictures to officer-in-charge at Gympie ambulance station Wayne Sachs, who said he was ’99 per cent sure’ that it was a non-venomous green tree snake.
‘I’ve had a few close calls with brown snakes before. It certainly took me by surprise,’ he said. ‘I’m glad I wasn’t on the open-cab tractor.’
