Incredible dashcam has captured the terrifying moment two surfboards became dangerous projectiles on one of Australia’s busiest highways.

The footage captured on Queensland’s Pacific Motorway near Burleigh Heads near the New South Wales border shows two surfboards strapped to the top of the roof of a Range Rover, which suddenly become dislodged and are sent flying.

The airborne surfboards became dangerous projectiles for oncoming traffic with several near misses with a car and B-double truck in the next lane.

The flying projectiles narrowly miss the vehicle behind the Range Rover, which captured the terrifying footage.

Luckily, the surfboards caused no damage and appear to remain intact as they land on the side of the motorway, where the driver stops to retrieve their lost cargo.

‘Idiot. Occy straps you f*****g knob,’ the driver with the dashcam can be heard in the video.

The footage was posted on the Dash Cam Owners Australia Facebook page on Saturday, where it attracted more than 59,000 views and almost 150 comments within 24 hours.

‘But I used the high quality Occy straps,’ the video was captioned.

Online comments about the footage ranged from serious concern to amusement.

‘Was the hand out the window a last ditch attempt to keep the boards grounded, or did they actually think they could drive home holding them on the roof?,’ one man posted.

Others were concerned about the dangers of the loosely secured surfboards for oncoming traffic, where one described the incident as every motorcyclist’s nightmare.

‘I reckon it’s about f*** **g time that the cops start cracking down on this s*** before someone gets killed. This is about the third video in a few weeks that this has happened,’ one man posted.

Another added: ‘Glad that didn’t fly upwards hitting B-double windscreen.’

Remarkably, no surfboards or vehicles were damaged in the incident captured on dashcam
