A South Australian TV personality said her street is living in fear following the stabbing death of a neighbor and a woman covered in blood breaking in to her house.

Police were called to the street in Gilberton, South Australia, just after 7pm on Monday after a resident’s carer made a request for a welfare check.

When officers arrived, they found Andrew Sorby-Adams, 67, dead with multiple stab wounds.

Less than 25 minutes earlier, police had been called to the home of former Channel 7 star Jan Beasley at a neighbouring property after an intruder was spotted.

A woman allegedly smashed a window at the back porch and entered while Mrs Beasley and her husband John were watching television, Seven News reported.

In terrifying footage, John can be heard yelling: ‘Get away from our house. Go away.’

But the 30-year-old woman, whose name has been suppressed, could be seen dressed in only a shirt as she broke the glass with what appeared to be a pot plant, while allegedly covered in blood.

‘Something has to change, honestly and truly. Everybody in this neighborhood now is scared to death,’ Mrs Beasley said.

She claimed there had been trouble at the neighbouring units previously and she had made calls to the SA Housing Trust but no action had been taken.

‘How would you like to live next to that for 30 years? You can’t go out your back gate,’ she said.

Daily Mail Australia has contacted SA Housing Trust for comment.

SA Police responded to the incident and arrested the woman, who is allegedly a resident in the block of units, before she was taken to hospital to treat cuts and grazes.

She has been charged with murder, trespassing and property damage.

Acting Superintendent Damien Eichner told reporters on Tuesday the Beasleys were ‘extremely lucky’ not to be harmed and he shared his condolences with Mr Sorby-Adams’ family.

‘This type of event has catastrophic impacts upon families, upon the community itself, and the wellbeing of everyone involved,’ he said.

Investigations remain ongoing and any witnesses have been urged to contact the police.

Local resident Jonathon Wilkinson said the woman had been struggling for days.

‘She had a lot on her plate,’ he said.

‘She hadn’t been herself for about three days, but she was facing eviction and homelessness and things along those lines.’

The woman appeared remotely in the Adelaide Magistrates Court from a medical facility on Tuesday, The Advertiser reported.

No bail application has been made and the woman has not entered a plea.

The court approved a request from her legal representatives that she be remanded into the custody of SA’s forensic mental health service instead of a jail cell.

‘(She) has just been assessed for a forensic inpatient treatment order… she requires further evaluation by psychiatrists,’ a forensic mental health spokeswoman told the court.

The suppression of the woman’s name and image was also approved by the court after the SA Police prosecutor said staff would require time to deal with the ‘large and complex’ case.

The woman is next due to front court in October.
