Tesco manager ‘refuses to serve customer who was buying milkshake for thirsty homeless woman’
- Daniel Heard, 40, was confronted by the worker in the Lincoln High Street store
- He was left ‘disgusted by the manager’s actions and has launched a complaint
- He regularly buys food for homeless people from the shop’s reduced section
A ‘disgusted’ Tesco customer has hit out at shop staff after they reportedly vowed not to serve him a milkshake he was buying for a thirsty homeless woman.
Daniel Heard, 40, was confronted by a senior manager in the supermarket titan’s Lincoln High Street store where he regularly buys food and drink from the reduced price section for the rough sleepers outside.
As he went in to the Tesco Express, he agreed to buy a homeless couple, food but the homeless woman changed her mind and ran into the store to ask for a milkshake which prompted an employee to throw her out on suspicions of ‘stealing’.

‘The chap then turned to me and said don’t purchase it for her,’ Daniel told Lincolnshire Live.
‘I said I’ll spend my money on what I want and he said if I did they wouldn’t serve me.’
Daniel said he was revolted by the manager’s refusal to serve him and accused the worker of lacking compassion.
He also pointed out that the items from the cut-price section are those which are about to go out of date, and so will be chucked away soon anyway.
He said: ‘These people are starving and at the end of the day, they’re only going to put it in the bin.’
A Tesco spokesperson said: ‘The individual in question is currently banned from the store due to threatening behaviour towards one of our colleagues.
‘However, we appreciate that we should not have refused to serve the customer buying items in this instance and apologise for the error we have made.’
