Tesla raises the starting price of all four of its vehicles by almost $5,000

Tesla increased the price for all four of its electric vehicles – Model 3, Model Y, Model S and Model X – by as much as $5,000 over the weekend.

The Model 3 sedan and Model Y compact SUV are now $2,000 more, bringing their starting prices to $43,990 and $56,990, respectively. Pricing for the Model S and Model X increased by $5,000 each, with the vehicle’s starting at $94,990 and $104,990, respectively.

This is the firm’s second price hike on its vehicles this month and the eighth time it has raised the price of the Model 3 and Model Y. The Model S and Model X have been adjusted twice this year.

In addition to price increases, Tesla costumers will have to wait longer for deliveries.

A Model 3 will not be available until December and the Model Y will not be delivered in May 2022.

The upcoming Model S has a June 2022 availability date, while the Model X will not be available until September 2022.

The last increase was on October 7 and saw pricing for Model 3 and Model Y rise another $2,000.

Although the Musk-led firm has been affected by the chip shortage, it delivered 241,300 cars worldwide in its most recent quarter – more than any other electric car maker.

And 96 percent of Tesla’s sales came from newer Model 3 sedan and Model Y crossover, according to Tesla.

The company shipped 64 percent more vehicles than during last year’s third quarter.

However, other carmakers were not as successful: GM was down 33 percent and is blaming the chip shortage on the decrease in sales – it shipped 446,997 vehicles in the third quarter of this year.

Tesla has changed pricing for its Model 3 and Model Y vehicles several times this year, including an increase in February.

Some of the changes were a drop in price, which also occurred in early March – prices were raised by the end of the month, Electrek reports.

In early April, the prices for both models were increased, followed by another increase in late April and another one in early May both models.

And last month, Tesla raised the Model Y pricing twice.

No changes had been announced for the Model S before this past weekend is there, but the vehicles did see price jumps in August – with the starting price moving from $79,990 to $84,990 and then to $89,990 in just under a month.

The Model X’s price, however, did see previous increases throughout 2021, rising from $89,990 to $94,990 for the Long Range model, and then up to $99,990.
