Texas A&M defensive ends coach Terry Price has died at the age of 55 for an undisclosed reason, according to a statement from the university.
Price played at Texas A&M from 1986-89 and coached defensive line at Western Kentucky (1994), Ole Miss (1995-98; 2009-11), Auburn (1999-2008) and Texas Tech (2011) before returning to his alma mater in 2012.
He was the defensive line coach for three seasons before transitioning to a defensive end-specific role in 2015. During that time, he coached future NFL stars such as Justin Madubuike, DeMarvin Leal, and former No. 1 overall pick Myles Garrett.
‘Terry was not only a great Aggie, football coach and recruiter, he was an even better husband, father and man,’ Texas A&M head coach Jimbo Fisher said in a statement.
‘The impact he had on this program and his players is immeasurable. Our football family has suffered an incredible loss.’
Terry Price, a longtime defensive line coach at Texas A&M University, died Friday aged 55
During his playing days, Price was part of the Aggies’ famed ‘Wrecking Crew’ defense and helped them win three straight Southwest Conference championships.
He was a 10th-round selection by the Chicago Bears in the 1990 NFL Draft and appeared in two games.
Price is also known as the Aggies’ barbecue ‘pitmaster,’ as he would hold regular defensive lineman cookouts.
Price’s son, Devin Price, was a wide receiver for Texas A&M for the past three seasons. After graduating earlier this month, he transferred to FAU ahead of the 2023 season.
In addition to Devin, Terry is survived by his wife Kenya and his other son Alexander who also graduated from Texas A&M this month.
