Texas man is arrested for ‘touching a female plane passenger on the inner thigh and breast before trying to put his hand up her shirt while she was sleeping’

A Texas man has been charged with sexual battery after authorities say he groped a woman who was sleeping next to him on a Southwest Airlines flight.
Alfredo Vela IV, 30, was arrested when the plane touched down in Nashville just after 9.15pm on Sunday, according to an affidavit.
The alleged victim told police she did not know Vela but had talked to him briefly on the flight before falling asleep.
She said she later woke up when she felt him rubbing her back with his hand.
The woman told police she ‘froze in fear’ as Vela touched her inner thigh and breast before trying to put his hand up her shirt, the affidavit says.

The unidentified accuser later reported the alleged assault to airline staff, who called Metro police to meet the plane upon its arrival in Nashville.
According to police, Vela admitted to scratching the woman’s back, but chose not to speak with officers after he was arrested.
Vela was booked into Davidson County Jail and posted $5,000 bond early Monday morning.
He is set to appear in court on October 19.
