A Texas man was stung more than 600 times by bees while he was mowing his yard over the weekend.
Vern Roberts said he was attacked by Africanized honey bees, also known as ‘killer bees’ outside his home in Wallis.
His wife Mary was inside their house when she heard him screaming and ran outside to try and rescue him.

Roberts said he ‘tried to get away’ but the bees were too overwhelming. He told KHOU: ‘I tried to stop, drop and roll… I would stagger and fall and flop around, all sorts of things.’
Roberts was stung 600 times all over his body, including in his mouth and even down his throat.
His wife Mary was stung more than 60 times while trying to get him to the safety of their home.
Once inside, Mary called 911, but when paramedics they were unable to get to Roberts because their yard was swarming with bees, according to KHOU.
Roberts was forced to walk outside just to get to the ambulance and was subsequently stung more.
He was rushed to a local hospital where he spent three days in the intensive care unit. He’s expected to make a full recovery.
