Police in Texas are investigating an explosion that killed a man on his front porch as an isolated homicide.
Authorities have not identified the man who died at the hospital from injuries related to an explosion on the front porch of his home in Austin, Texas, which took place shortly before 7am Friday.
Neighbors were said to have called authorities to report hearing the explosion and seeing a man who had suffered traumatic injuries.

Authorities don’t believe the explosion was related to terrorism, however FBI, ATF and postal inspectors are partnering to determine the cause and nature of the explosive device
Emergency workers arrived minutes later and transported the man — believed to be in his 40s — to the hospital for treatment of his critical and life-threatening injuries. He died within the hour, KVUE reported.
‘What we know right now is that some type of device exploded at this residence this morning,’ Interim Austin Police Chief Brian Manley said in a press briefing, according to the Statesman. ‘We have no information right now that makes us to believe that this is anything beyond an isolated incident.
Based on the current information authorities have, Manly said that the explosion was ‘in no way’ linked to a terrorist attack.
Agents from the FBI and US Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms, as well as postal inspectors, have joined the investigation to help determine what kind of device caused the explosion and to confirm that it was, in fact, an isolated incident.
Neighbors called 911 shortly 7am Friday to say that they had heard the explosion and seen a man — who has not been identified, but is believed to be in his 40s — with critical injuries
Manley said that police are working with the postal inspectors to determine whether a package had been delivered to the man’s home recently.
Neighbors told KXAN they heard from authorities that the explosive device could have been a pipe bomb.
Police used K-9 units to secure the area and sweep for pieces of the explosive device.
‘It is going to take us quite a while here today to work through this scene, to do the post-blast analysis, as well as to do an investigation into the death that occurred here today,’ Manley said.
