Marisela Mendoza Winn, 39, is accused of having sex with her 16-year-old male student while teaching at IDEA McAllen Public School in southern Texas
A Texas teacher was allegedly caught having a sexual relationship with a teenage male student after 5,000 pages of text messages between the pair were uncovered.
McAllen Police started investigating Marisela Mendoza Winn in November last year after the 16-year-old boy’s mother reported that her son had allegedly confessed to having sex with his teacher.
The 39-year-old English teacher was arrested and charged last Wednesday.
She had been working at the IDEA McAllen Public School at the time.
The boy told authorities he had gone to Winn’s house multiple times to ‘perform sexual acts’, according to the criminal complaint obtained by CBS4.
Police said they found roughly 5,000 pages of messages between them, including a vulgar text sent by Winn.
The 39-year-old English teacher has since been sacked from IDEA McAllen Public School where she had been working at the time of the alleged assault
Winn was sacked from the school following the police investigation.
‘IDEA Public Schools is committed to ensuring the safety of our students on the road to and through college,’ a statement from the school read.
‘The employee in question has been on administrative leave as authorities conducted an investigation, and has since been released from IDEA Public Schools.
‘We are cooperating fully with the investigation, and we have taken all appropriate actions in accordance with the law and network policy.’
Winn has since been released from Hidalgo County Jail.
