This perfectly-timed picture captures an ‘evil’ owl showing off its piercing stare as he hurtles straight toward the photographer.

Self-employed gardener Gary Austin had originally planned to take pictures of a baby owlet but ended up spotting the hawk-eyed father.

Gary, who always carries his camera with him on gardening jobs, snapped the image on a private farm in Cannock, Staffs, and said he had been hoping to get a shot of the little owl family for the past 12 months.

The 50-year-old also snapped this fierce shot of the owl, who apparently wasn't impressed with his efforts at photographing his family

The 50-year-old says he’s thrilled with the result after he first spotted the bird fixing its terrifying stare on him last week.

He said: ‘I absolutely love this photo – the owl certainly looks evil. Owls always have good eye contact with you and make different facial expressions when you take pictures of them, and this one definitely meant business.’
