The astrophysicist had previously left her heartbroken on The Bachelor 2019 when she placed runner-up to chemical engineer Chelsie McLeod.
Matt and Chelsie dated for several months before splitting up.
The pair reconnecting on social media coincided with Matt moving from Melbourne to Sydney, where Abbie lives.
