The Bachelor star Sasha Zhuravlyova reveals her family is trapped in Ukraine as Russia invades – and shares confronting footage of the conflict

Sasha Zhuravlyova has revealed her family and friends are trapped in Ukraine as tensions escalate following the Russian invasion.

The former Bachelor star shared confronting footage of the conflict on Instagram on Sunday, as she spoke about the terrifying situation for those living in the Eastern European country.

In one video, tanks could be seen passing through abandoned streets as civilians fled into their homes.

She also posted another video of a truck on fire in the middle of the street, adding: ‘Save Ukraine. Please Lord, have mercy.’

‘While I sit at home, in my beautiful fully furnished apartment, with a fridge full of food and water running out of taps, my friends and family wake up to this,’ she said.

Russian President Vladimir Putin declared war on Ukraine on Thursday, swiftly launching strikes all over the country to the condemnation of the international community.

He gave an extraordinary early-morning address to the Russian nation – delivered during a UN meeting aimed at avoiding war – in which he declared a ‘special military operation’ to ‘de-militarise’ and ‘de-Nazify’ Ukraine in what amounted to a outright declaration of war.

Putin also issued a chilling warning to any country thinking of coming to Ukraine’s aid, vowing ‘consequences greater than any you have faced in history’.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has given his own address – delivered from home – in which he declared martial law and vowed to resist the Russian attack, come what may.

‘Don’t panic. We are strong. We are ready for everything. We will defeat everyone. Because we are Ukraine,’ he said.

Underlining the gravity of the moment, Ukrainian Interior Ministry advisor Anton Herashchenko said: ‘Starting today, the world has a new geopolitical reality.

‘Either Ukraine and the world will stop the new Hitler now, or there will be a Third World War.’

Western leaders lined up to condemn Russia’s actions in the early hours, with security councils convened the world over to mount a response.
