But whether the two leaders will end up swapping roses with one another was entirely beside the point for loyal viewers, Bachelorette Nation went into meltdown on Twitter.

In an unusual move, ABC sent out an advisory on Monday afternoon for fans to extend their DVR recording time because of the expected breaking news.

Of course, there were no more clues about what time the news would break but the network promised that that the episode would be shown in its entirety.

Host Chris Harrison stepped in to soothe worried fans when the breaking news halted the show: ‘If the summit goes well they can forgo their individual countries and go straight to the fantasy country,’ he tweeted.

‘I think the important thing right now is not to panic. We must stay together as one United. Everyone breathe and drink another glass of wine. Stay calm…we’re pausing the show for you. You’ll see #TheBachelorette in its entirety,’ Harrison continued.
