The Bachelorette’s ‘villain’ Ryan Jones’s surprising past

He’s the straight-talking tradie who quickly established himself as the token villain character on The Bachelorette this Wednesday.

But fans may be surprised to discover there is more to Ryan Jones, 26, than meets the eye.  

While, the New Zealand-born contestant was introduced on the show as a construction foreman, Ryan is the managing director of his own construction company.

The ambitious businessman established the company in July this year, just weeks after The Bachelorette wrapped up filming. 

According to his LinkedIn page, Ryan is skilled in custom home building, carpentry and project management, and has worked as a construction site supervisor for around five years.  

During his time as a tradie, Ryan helped to restore the Sydney University Campus in Darlington and has assisted the construction of a variety of upscale Bondi homes.

Bachelorette devotees may also be surprised to learn that Ryan has enjoyed a budding career in rugby, having having played for the Gold Coast Eagles and Coogie Dolphins in recent years. 

As for his social connections, Ryan has surprising link to The Bachelorette’s Georgia Love, having grown up with her former suitor Jake Ellis and his brother Luke. 

Also in his friendship circle is former Bachelor contestant Jen Hawke, known for her appearance on Matty Johnson’s season of The Bachelor, and Lisa Hyde, who appeared on Blake Garvey’s season of the same show.

Meanwhile, a Bachelor insider has told Daily Mail Australia that Ryan has links to notorious King Cross personality John Ibrahim via a friendship with his son.

Although Ryan hasn’t committed any crimes himself, he has forged a friendship with the nightclub identity’s son, Daniel Taylor, who was recently arrested. 

The 26-year-old was arrested in Sydney for allegedly handing over a suitcase holding $2.25m to buy illegal tobacco as part of a deal masterminded by his uncle Michael.
