The Bachelor’s Matt James keeps fit with bike ride in Florida as he waits to start filming season 25 of reality show

He was announced as the lead for season 25 of ABC’s The Bachelor in June.

And as he whiles away the summer before filming begins, Matt James is making sure to stay fit and toned.

The 28-year-old former football player is spending time in Jupiter, Florida, where he was seen enjoying a bicycle ride on Sunday.

The real estate broker and entrepreneur, who normally resides in New York City, will make history as the first African-American to star as The Bachelor.

A close friend of last season’s The Bachelorette runner-up Tyler Cameron, Matt was originally cast to be a contestant on that show’s 16th season.

However, in the midst of the Black Lives Matter protests in June, ABC offered him The Bachelor role which he accepted.

In a statement, ABC explained: ‘We know we have a responsibility to make sure the love stories we’re seeing onscreen are representative of the world we live in, and we are proudly in service to our audience.’

The network added: ‘This is just the beginning, and we will continue to take action with regard to diversity issues on this franchise. We feel so privileged to have Matt as our first Black Bachelor and we cannot wait to embark on this journey with him.’

Network officials have previously said they hope to be able to film at The Bachelor mansion and include some travel.

If not, then the shown will film in a bubble where everyone is quarantined and tested and remains isolated on the same site for the duration of the shoot.

That is what is happening with The Bachelorette that went into production last month at the newly renovated La Quinta Resort & Club, a resort in LaQuinta, California, which is close to Palm Springs.

The entire cast and crew were quarantined for two weeks before filming kicked off and there is no travel involved.
