The Bachelor’s Zoe-Clare confirms the other girls DID bully her for her hair colour

What really caused ‘ranga-gate’: Bachelor star Zoe-Clare McDonald claims the other girls in the mansion DID bully her over her hair colour… but the slurs weren’t shown on TV

Her cocktail party tantrum about being an ‘oppressed ranga’ has become one of the most talked about moments on this season of The Bachelor.

And now Zoe-Clare McDonald, who was eliminated on Wednesday night’s episode, has opened up about what really caused her outburst.

Appearing on the Kyle and Jackie O Show, the 23-year-old explained that the other girls did in fact bully her over her hair colour, but the slurs were not shown on TV.

‘You guys only see one percent of what happens in the thousands of hours of filming and there were things that happened,’ she said.

‘The girls weren’t calling me by my name, they were referred to me as “The Redhead” and it was a bit inappropriate.’

The Queensland native said that her outburst was also partly down to the fact that she was feeling ill.

Zoe-Clare admitted that she was ‘on medication’ at the time, and began to feel unwell after she consumed ‘two drinks’.

‘My emotions were heightened because I was quite ill,’ she added.

During The Bachelor premiere, which aired on August 12, Zoe-Clare had a meltdown after fellow contestant Areeba Emmanuel interrupted her chat with Locky Gilbert.

She claimed she was being ‘oppressed’ because of her hair colour.

‘I’m the only redhead in the whole entire house… The only colours are blonde or brunette, and then there’s me. I think that’s exactly why Areeba is targeting me. It’s the red hair. It’s just… it’s not appropriate,’ she said.

Her rant left viewers baffled as nobody had mentioned the colour of her hair during the show.

The Bachelor continues Thursday at 7:30pm on Channel 10
