The Block 2023 promises to take fans ‘back to the 1950s’ with a new twist as secrets are revealed from upcoming series
Channel Nine has revealed fresh details about the 19th season of their hit renovation reality show The Block.
In a twist to the format, the new Blockheads were given a 12 week schedule right at the start of their renovation journey.
With past seasons, the show’s contestants only learned of each challenge a week ahead.
The five couples for the 2023 series converted five 1950s built homes in Hampton East, Melbourne.
Now Nine has teased the new season with a throwback themed picture set, featuring scenes from the show’s upcoming trailer.

In one of the stills, host Scott Cam is styled like a 1950s ‘tough guy’ and wears a white T-shirt and black leather jacket, and sports a sweeping combover hair style.
Other pictures from the new sneak feature cast members wearing fashionable 1950s style casual wear and sporting elaborate hairdos from the period.
According to The Block’s official website, Scott Cam introduces the new season with a 1950s theme.
‘Ah the ’50s what a time to be alive. ‘Houses had all the mod cons and life in the ‘burbs was pretty bloody perfect,’ Scott begins.
Elsewhere in the trailer, he reveals that contestants will work to a rigid 12-week schedule.
Meanwhile, Block favourites including co-host Shelley Craft and judges Shaynna Blaze, Neale Whitaker and Darren Palmer, and foremen Keith Schleiger and Dan Reilly, all feature in the new preview in 1950s outfits.
Other scenes in the new preview feature cast members Kyle and Leslie, Liberty and Eliza, Gian and Steph, Ash and Leah, and Kristy and Brett.
Filming of The Block 2023 began in March in Charming Street, but the locals reportedly weren’t happy with the production.

Angry residents claimed they were being pushed out of their neighbourhood by tradesmen and producers who converged on five classic brick homes in the street.
Back in March, some residents were upset when asked by Nine to move their cars so a 1950s-themed commercial for the hit reality TV program could be filmed.
‘The Channel Nine producers’ handling of it has been nothing short of a joke,’ one resident said.
‘He literally told residents to move our cars but was okay for him to park wherever he liked.’
