The Block 2024 implodes amid flirtgate scandal – as the stunning comment that ‘destroyed’ Brad and Kylie’s marriage is revealed

The Block’s ‘flirtgate’ scandal exploded onscreen last night, with contestant Brad Baker admitting ‘I’ve just single-handedly destroyed my family’ in the wake of comments he made to another man’s wife.

In stunning scenes, Brad’s wife Kylie Baker abandoned the production and seemingly flew home to Cairns after overhearing her husband ‘flirting’ with another contestant.

The scandal began when Mimi, who is married to Kristian on the show, went alone to Brad and Kylie’s home for a casual drink. 

While she and Brad chatted, Kylie napped nearby – and Brad by his own admission crossed a line.

‘I said some pretty inappropriate comments. I was flirting with Mimi… Kylie overheard them, and understandably she’s quite upset,’ he later explained. 

During a subsequent phone debrief with her mother, Kylie revealed exactly what went on during the conversation between her husband and Mimi.

‘Flirting, plus talking really inappropriately. How many f**king chances have I given him? Time after time,’ she told her mum.

Kylie then revealed one of the devastating comments Brad made during the flirty exchange.

‘Oh, you know I’d follow your OnlyFans,’ the electrician and plumber allegedly told Mimi, within earshot of his ‘napping’ wife.

She also alleged Brad was ‘bitching’ about her during the conversation.

‘What, he’s bitching about you to other people?’ asked Kylie’s stunned mother. ‘Well, that’s happened before and it’ll continue to happen.’

The fallout from the scandal was both swift and stunning.

Kylie immediately left the show, with host Scott Cam announcing the mother-of-four left the building site the next morning, ‘and she’s never been seen since. 

‘We found her car, Block phone, all the hi-vis … we’ve done everything we can to locate her and she has not been seen,’ he said.

Kylie abandoned her vehicle at 2:34pm that day, taking only her handbag with her.

Brad speculated that Kylie had returned to Cairns to reunite with the couple’s four children.

A message recorded on Kylie’s Block-supplied phone seemed to support that theory.

‘Alright, so I’m saying goodbye. I can’t be on national television having my marriage breaking down. So I’m going home, and I can’t say I’ll be returning,’ she announced in the message.

‘You can talk to Brad about the details, but unfortunately I can’t do it anymore. Thank you for the opportunity and I’m sorry I can’t stay until the end, I’m just not strong enough anymore,’ Kylie concluded. 

The onscreen drama played out days after Kristian and Mimi broke their silence over the scandal exclusively to Daily Mail Australia.

The Adelaide couple confirmed at the Channel Nine Upfronts in Sydney on Thursday that the flirting did indeed occur – but insisted they had put the infidelity behind them.

The scandal involved Mimi getting involved with fellow Blockhead Brad Baker while on-set, behind the backs of their partners Kristian and Kylie.

‘Our relationship is stronger than ever,’ claimed Kristian when asked about the scandal. 

Although Mimi and Kristian were able to work through their marital troubles, Brad and Kylie did not and quit the show midway through, and their relationship status is currently unknown.

‘The thing with the show is that everything we’ve done has happened in the past. We’ve learned from everything that we’ve been through, and we’re better for it,’ Mimi began. 

‘So, when it happens, it’s happened in the past. Yeah. It doesn’t really bother me.’

She then claimed there was no tension between them and Kylie and Brad, and noted their rivals were not at the event because it was difficult for the couple to find a babysitter for their four children. 

‘There’s no tension. We saw them last week and I spoke to him. Yeah. But there is nothing going on.’ 

Mimi said their stint on the renovation series had been a significant learning experience. 

‘It took coming out of The Block to be like, “Okay, let’s reflect on our experience and  what have we learned from this”,’ Mimi said.

The couple’s bombshell admission comes after their co-stars Charlotte and Maddy appeared to confirm gossip that ‘something happened’ between two of the show’s contestants during filming.

The Blockheads made the revelation during an appearance on HIT WA’s Allan & Carly Show last week.

Host Carly Portch asked the pair about online rumours concerning Mimi and Brad.

‘Look, I think all will get revealed in the next couple of weeks,’ Charlotte, 22, responded, adding: ‘I think stay tuned for that.’

Maddy, 24, added: ‘We don’t want to speak on it specifically because it’s people’s real lives at stake and we weren’t obviously there, so we don’t know full details.

‘But yeah… something happened. We’re probably not the right people to speak on it.’

Fans will be eager to see how the drama plays out after Kristian, 31, and Mimi, 28, recently confessed that appearing on the Channel Nine renovation show put a serious strain on their marriage.
