The Block builders walk off set after explosive row with new contestants leaves them in tears

The Block saw builder Zak and his team stormed off site and quit the show on Tuesday after a heated row with newcomers Maddy and Charlotte Harry.

The sisters from Sydney flew down at the last minute to take over Paige and Jesse Maguire’s House One after they made a shock exit from the show last week.

But things quickly went south for Maddy, 24, and Charlotte, 22, as they failed to see eye to eye with the builder handpicked by their predecessors.

Things have been heated between the two parties since the sisters arrived a few days ago, as they told host Scott Cam they found Zak ‘intimidating’ to deal with.

The carpenter promptly blew up at them with accusations they were ‘s**t-canning’ him on TV and designing the house behind his back with their own builder Jack.

Tensions came to a head during the most recent episode when Zak complained about the ‘f**king brothel’ of a mess he was working in at House One.

Charlotte attempted to calm the tradesman down with solutions, but he became slighted when she appeared to dismiss him and address his underling Nathan.

‘I’m trying to have direct conversations with you and you just turn and talk to Nathan. It’s quite rude,’ he told Charlotte who quickly became tearful.

‘It’s been happening since Monday. I directly asked you and you turned your body to talk to Nathan.’

Charlotte conceded to producers later that she and sister Maddy do often speak with Nathan over Zak ‘because I find him more approachable’.

As things between Charlotte and Zak quickly barreled out of control, the pair agreed to revisit the conversation the following morning.

However, a night of rest didn’t quell the heat between them as Zak continued to take exception with the girls calling him ‘intimidating’.

When he claimed he was only being ‘blunt and straight to the point’, Maddy tried to make him understand he gave off a negative impression.

‘I’m sorry you can’t handle my tone,’ he then told Charlotte who didn’t accept the non-apology, prompting Zak to quit the show.

‘We’re going to be out of here. This team dynamic isn’t going to work, sorry guys.’ he said, before telling his team to ‘pack it up’.

He then stormed off as Maddy attempted to leave things on a civil note by saying sorry, pushing her into tears as she was left to apologise to Nathan instead.

‘I think being kind goes a long way,’ Maddy tearfully told producers after the row.

‘We’re not asking for the world, we’re just asking to be respected. I probably knew from the beginning it wasn’t the best fit.’

Maddy went on to say she was sad to see things end the way they did, but was adamant she couldn’t work with someone she was ‘uncomfortable’ talking to.
