The Block judge Darren Palmer finally reveals the truth behind the biggest scandal ever on the show – and what he REALLY said to the Vos brothers

The Block judge Darren Palmer has revealed the truth behind the shock 2014 mobile phone scandal, in which two contestants were busted secretly filming the judges.

The shock episode saw Darren, 46, conducting a power point inspection under a house bed designed by brothers Simon and Shannon Vos – only to find a mobile phone there instead.

A furious Darren stood up holding the smuggled iPhone and was heard calling the brothers ‘cheeky monkeys’, asking them why they had gone against the show’s rules.

‘The phone was switched on and recording everything the judges were saying underneath the bed,’ host Scott Cam told the siblings.

The clip has now been re-shared to social media and Darren admitted that his shock comment to the brothers had in fact been edited to hide what he really said.

‘Yeah I didn’t originally say ”cheeky monkeys”,’ Darren wrote in the comments, hinting at a more expletive-laden remark towards the pair.

‘We had to overdub ”cheeky monkeys” as what I actually said was not suitable for the time slot.’

During the broadcast, Darren’s lips appeared to be saying ‘cheeky f**kers’, which is not an appropriate comment to air on the family friendly program.

Despite the awkward blow-up, the lovable Vos brothers won fans over with their creative ideas and prankster reputation, went home from the series with a huge cash prize.

The boys won The Block: Glasshouse in October 2014 after the hammer came down on their newly renovated pad at a huge $1.9million.

They pocketed the $335,000 left over from above the reserve price, plus a bonus of $100,000, giving them a total of $435,000.

Shannon is a painter by trade with qualifications in graphic design while his younger brother Simon is a plumber.

Since soaring to victory, Shannon has continued to show off his impressive renovation skills and recently created a luxury property in Torquay, Victoria.

Last June, Shannon transformed the four-bedroom, five-bathroom seaside home, which hit the market with a price guide of $7.5million-$7.7million.

Shannon styled the sprawling 945sq metre house using cosy timber details, chic polished concrete and blackbutt flooring.

Highlights included a glorious magnesium pool and deck with adjoining BBQ and entertainment area, which comes with its own Las Vega-style sound system.

There’s also a home theatre, a yoga studio and gym, an art gallery, home office and a second downstairs lounge area.

Shannon, who runs his own business, Vos Creative, collaborated on the beautiful home with builder Stuart Voss and architect Frank Bienefelt.
