The Block records its lowest ratings EVER in the program’s entire 17-season run

The Block is demolished: Nine’s renovation show records its lowest ratings EVER in the program’s entire 17-season run as The Voice nabs double the audience

Channel Nine may have to pack up the tools for The Block Fans vs Faves after the show recorded its lowest TV ratings ever on Tuesday night.

The Nine renovation series was decimated by Seven’s The Voice Australia, which doubled The Block’s audience and dominated the 7:30pm time slot.

The Block attracted a dismal 591,000 metro viewers, which is not only the lowest viewership recorded this season, but the lowest in the show’s entire 17-season run.

The series attracted 815,000 viewers nationally and finished third again in all key demographics.

Seven’s The Voice, by contrast, had 1.71 million viewers nationally on Tuesday – 110 per cent more than The Block – and 1.165 million metro viewers.

It placed first in the 7:30pm time slot on Tuesday and broke several records for the network.

It came first in live streaming, first in the 18-49 and 25-54 demographics, and saw a 33% national increase in audience numbers from the same scheduled episode last year.

Meanwhile, Channel Ten’s Australian Survivor: Brains vs Brawn reached number one in the 16-39 demographic and recorded 682,000 metro viewers.

The series has seen a steady and consistent level of viewership, especially compared to Ten’s other primetime entertainment series The Bachelor.

But it’s paled in comparison to The Voice Australia, which has continued to smash the TV ratings.

The dominating results from The Voice pushed Seven to No. 1 for Tuesday night as the station continues to command free-to-air television in the latter half of 2021.

Seven took in an audience share 33.5% overnight, Nine were in second with 24.7% and Ten came in third with 19.9%.

Seven acquired the rights to The Voice Australia after Nine failed to renew its contract last year after nine seasons.

The network also recently announced a spin-off series called The Voice Generations.
