The Block’s Adrian Portelli slammed for letting his baby son suck on an extremely rare $130K dinosaur fossil: ‘That’s a rare piece of history, treat it with respect’

The Block bidder Adrian Portelli recently raised eyebrows after revealing he had purchased a Tyrannosaurus Rex fossil.

And the entrepreneur, 35, shocked his followers again on Wednesday, when he shared a short clip of his baby son Mercy, six months, playing with the dinosaur bone.

The clip showed Mercy lying on Adrian’s bed, looking content as he held on to the fossil while happily sucking on it. 

His father’s hand was seen reaching in to grab the bone, but the inquisitive youngster was having none of it and offered a cheeky grin as he clutched the foot.

‘A lot of questions about the T-Rex foot,’ Adrian captioned the post, referring to his recent purchase.

‘Is it real? Yes it’s a real authenticated fossil. Age? Roughly 80 million years old. Ticket price $130,000.’ 

Adrian continued: ‘Current price after it suffered a broken toe…Unknown.’

While fans were quick to coo over the cute clip, some took issue with Adrian’s choice of baby toys.

Others however were quick to rush to Adrian’s defense.

‘No different to a T-bone from a steak they’re both an animal and no longer exist ones just a little older and has a few more zeros on the end of its price tag,’ one wrote.

The original commenter shot back, writing: ‘You do realize they are incredibly rare? Comparing it to a tbone is beyond ridiculous.

‘A piece like that with interconnecting pieces is very very rare. Belongs in the proper casing to be enjoyed. Never mind the chemicals they would have used to treat and preserve it going in the baby’s mouth.’

This moved Adrian to respond directly, telling the offended party: ‘More than happy for you to buy it off me and store it as you wish. Until then I’ll enjoy it how I wish.’

One highlight that truly raised eyebrows was his new ‘T-Rex foot’.

The absurdity of the purchase was not lost on his followers, who flooded the post with a mix of awe and humour.  

Adrian and his partner, Karlie Butler, welcomed their first child, Mercy, in January.

The unique name pays homage to one of the first luxury cars Portelli purchased – a rare orange Lamborghini Murcielago, valued at over $700,000.
