The Block’s Darren Palmer faces a loss as he lists his Byron Bay retreat for $3.3million… after purchasing it for $3.8million two years ago

The 46-year-old Block judge purchased the two-storey Suffolk Park home in 2022 for a whopping $3.85million.

He’s now expected to cop a loss on the four-bedroom, two-bathroom getaway after it was listed recently with a price guide of $3.1million-$3.3million.

Known as Pompano House, the roomy weatherboard was last sold in 2005 for $770,000.

After Palmer’s purchase, the pad has been on the market as a holiday rental for $1500 reports The Daily Telegraph.

Built in the 1980s, the home is only a short 100 metre walk from the ocean and Byron’s famed Tallow Beach.

According to the home’s listing on A Perfect Stay, Palmer renovated the house, which features an 8x3metre saltwater swimming pool, and a wrap around upper level balcony.

Situated only 6kms from Byron Bay’s main street, the spread has a thoughtful indoor/outdoor layout, which makes the most of the tropical setting.

The main living spaces open out to an entertainment deck and al fresco dining area.

There’s also a media room, private lounge and a breakfast nook.

It comes after Palmer also listed his renovated Bondi Beach home for sale earlier this month for $2.98million.

The interior designer, 46, snapped up the lavish property up with his husband Olivier Duvillard in 2015.

The reality star converted the home into a luxury three-level  four-bedroom, four-bathroom pad that is positioned just 400m from Australia’s most renowned beach.

When Darren purchased it in the mid 2010s, the home, which was once a California bungalow, had already been renovated into a two-level dwelling.

Darren collaborated with architect John Deuchrass and construction company Taste Living to completely rebuild the home after he bought it.

‘The poor old house has a lot to be improved upon. I spent years imagining what it might be when it was completely done,’ Darren told Domain.

He went on to say he kept only one bedroom ‘with the original 1920s horsehair plaster ornate ceiling’ but ended up renovating the rest over two years.

With the transformation long completed, the home now boasts a dual indoor-outdoor living space, a heated pool, and four subtropical garden areas.

Darren described his million dollar home as ‘a play on a monochromatic tonal palette’, adding that it was the perfect style for Bondi.

He said he intentionally designed it as a luxury coastal home ‘with lots of attention to detail’, ensuring every space had its purpose.

Darren and his partner shared the home with their teenage son and dogs – Frankie the French bulldog and Ziz the Brussels griffon.

The Block star said working on his own home made him very empathetic for the contestants he judged on the renovation competition.
