The Block’s Eliza and Liberty break their silence on if they would return for the 20th anniversary season

This year marks the 20th anniversary of Channel Nine’s hit The Block.

And fans are eagerly awaiting which of the shows past stars will return to help celebrate its two decades on the air.

Now 2023 fan favourites Eliza and Liberty have revealed that while they have not been asked to come back as Blockheads, it would not be an easy decision.

‘We sure as s**t haven’t got a call yet,’ Eliza, 37, told Yahoo Lifestyle on Tuesday.

‘So many people are like, “If you got asked to do Phillip Island, would you do it?”, and that’s something we would truly have to think about.’

The Block’s Eliza and Liberty have revealed they would be reluctant to come back to the 20th anniversary show this year

The sisters, who walked away with $1.05million after selling House 5 for $4.3million last year, say the two-hour plus commute from their home in Melbourne to the new site would be off-putting.

‘It was hard enough doing it in Bayside Melbourne, but doing it on Phillip Island would be so hard,’ Liberty, 34, explained in the report.

However, Eliza and Liberty say they would do a ‘guest appearance’ in a ‘heartbeat’.

it comes after last year's winners Gian and Steph (both pictured) have been confirmed to appear in the 2024 season of The Block - but not as competitors.

‘We had the best experience and some of the crew have become our best friends, so if we got to go back and experience that again, yeah,’ Liberty said.

Adds Eliza: ‘If it was just a visit, yeah.. .I just think [the commute] it would be too much for us. You’d be so grateful to be asked back, but we haven’t.’

Meanwhile, the sisters confirmed that would be taking an overseas trip with 2023 Block winners Steph and Gian later in the year.

It comes after the husband and wife team were confirmed to make an appearance for the hit show’s 20th anniversary season.

But an insider at Nine has revealed the fan favourites won’t be competing.

No details have emerged of their exact role on the show, which is about to begin filming on Phillip Island in Victoria.

However Yahoo Lifestyle reports the couple, who walked away with a whopping $1.65million last year, will play an ‘ongoing’ part in the new series.

According to the report, contestants for the 20th anniversary series will be able to get access to Steph’s styling expertise.

Meanwhile, an insider has revealed fans can look forward to a less toxic season after last year’s explosive series saw the cast caught up in constant in-fighting.

‘We are focusing on a nicer, more wholesome season but no matter who we cast – the drama always presents itself,’ the the source said.
