The Block’s Foreman Dan reveals the REAL reason some contestants walked away with nothing this year

The Block’s Foreman Dan has shared his thoughts on why some of the Blockheads walked away rich while others made nothing.

During the nail-biting finale Steph and Gian were the runaway winners with their house selling for an incredible $5million.

They walked away with $1.65 million profit plus prize money of $100,000, bringing their total earnings to a record breaking $1.75 million.

Steph and Gian’s win also broke last year’s record for Omar and Oz, which was $1,686,666.

It made the couple instant millionaires, but others were not so lucky.

Leah and Ash meanwhile had a miserable auction and left the show without having sold their home.

‘We haven’t seen a house like [Steph and Gian’s] in a long time on The Block. It just flowed, it was high end, the detailing was there,’ Dan told Nine.

‘Gian spent a lot of time with the quality of the painting. There was just a feeling about that house. When you walked in, you just wanted it.’

When it comes to Leah and Ash, Dan says the ‘lopsided’ auction results were a matter of size.

‘I always said throughout the show that the sheer size of Houses 4 and 5 and their block size would be hard to beat,’ Dan said.

‘ I just think back to when the contestants actually chose the houses, Houses 4 and 5 were the last to be chosen.

‘It really just goes to show that if you want to win The Block, you’ve really just got to do your research, know the area and know what people there want.’
