The Block’s Georgia Caceres reveals what REALLY happened in the show’s cheating scandal

The Block star Georgia Caceres has spoken out about the hit show’s infamous cheating scandal, revealing what went on behind the scenes.

In an interview with Daily Mail Australia, Georgia, 37, said the fallout from the scandal had ‘ongoing effects throughout the series’.

Rivals Tanya and Vito Guccione were at the centre of the scandal after obtaining a photo of the show’s top secret production schedule, which gave them an unfair advantage over the other teams.

Georgia admitted she was ‘irritated’ by the incident and claimed it was disrespectful to everyone involved on the show.

‘With [husband] Ronnie and myself, what you see is what you get. If there’s something on our mind, you’re going to know about it, and that’s just how we approach life in general,’ Georgia said.

‘I think we have such respect for the process that is The Block, and the people, and we know the amount of effort it takes, not just from the contestants, but also from production and the crew.

‘I guess maybe they didn’t understand the impact of what they were doing, and they didn’t really understand how that was going to affect not only them, but everybody else. I get irritated by that sort of stuff.’

Despite being in possession of the photo of the show’s production schedule, Tanya, 39, maintained her innocence throughout the series.

She claimed the photo had been taken by a ‘tradie’ who happened to walk past the production board, and it was then sent on to her.

But Georgia admitted she’s still not convinced by Tanya’s version of events, and insisted the truth will eventually come out.

‘I feel like if one plus one equals two, then it’s the truth… Tanya’s never admitted to taking the photo, but it all adds up to Tanya,’ she said.

Georgia believes Tanya and Vito, 45, were worried they’d get kicked off the show, so they ‘tried to cover their tracks’.

‘I think where perhaps they went wrong was they just didn’t own up to it. It really could’ve been put to bed really quickly,’ she added.

‘Even as a contestant, I was so over it… I was just over talking about it. I was over it being a thing. It was just always there, and it would always come up. It kind of ruined everybody else’s experience with the show as well.’

Georgia said she hoped the cheating scandal was nothing more than ‘a moment of lapsed judgement’.

'I feel like if one plus one equals two, then it's the truth... Tanya's never admitted to taking the photo, but it all adds up to Tanya,' she said

‘I would like to think it was a moment of lapsed judgement, and I think their consequence was having to deal with the ramifications throughout the rest of the show,’ she said.

‘It was a hard slog for them. And I think watching it back would be a really hard pill for them to swallow as well. I think that’s punishment enough.’

Georgia added that she’s been in contact with Tanya and Vito since completing renovations on the show, ‘texting back and forth with Tanya a little bit’.

'With Ronnie and myself, what you see is what you get. If there's something on our mind, you're going to know about it, and that's just how we approach life in general,' said Georgia

‘Towards the end of the filming, we all sort of ended on a pretty good note. What all the teams have achieved in 12 weeks was pretty amazing, despite the journey along the way. There were lots of ups and downs,’ she continued.

But Georgia admitted she still didn’t know what to make of Tanya and Vito: ‘I’m yet to figure them out, to be honest.’

Following on from the cheating scandal, Georgia later caught Tanya and Vito quietly installing their laundry a week after the other teams, describing it as a ‘sneaky manipulation’.

‘When you see that, it’s just like, “Guys, you’re not doing yourselves any favours here”. I just don’t think they understand that you’re on camera all the time. You’re going to get caught out!’ she added.

Georgia also revealed that she and Ronnie, 45, have signed on to work on ‘a couple of TV shows’ on Channel Nine once The Block ends, but couldn’t divulge much more.

She added that it’s been interesting watching the show on TV: ‘You don’t always know what people are saying about you. There’s been some comments that have been said where you go, “Whoa! Okay”,’
