The Chase Australia beats MasterChef and The Hot Seat in the ratings to become one of the country’s biggest entertainment shows

Channel Seven’s The Chase Australia has become one of the country’s biggest entertainment shows.

The quiz show, which has been a consistent ratings winner for the network over the last 18 months, scored a massive metro audience of 567,000 viewers on Tuesday.

It was an astounding performance for the  brain-twister compared to its prime time rivals, pulling a bigger audience than Channel 10’s MasterChef and Nine’s The Hot Seat.

Host Larry Emdur celebrated the win by taking to social media to pay tribute to the show’s fans.

‘Thank you for making The Chase the No. 1 entertainment show in Australia last night,’ he wrote on Instagram on Wednesday.

‘We had a bigger audience between 5-6pm than the big dogs in prime time,’ he continued, before adding: ‘That makes me a very proud old gameshow host bimbo.’

Included in his post was a picture of a a friend’s toddler watching The Chase.

The Chase Australia has a proven track record as a ratings winner for Seven.

Each episode earns on average more than 500,000 metro viewers every week.

This performance has consistently put The Chase Australia in the top ten most-watched programs in the over night ratings.

Meanwhile, Channel Seven’s beloved soap Home and Away managed to pull in 487,000 fans in the major centres on Tuesday.

And the much hyped MasterChef scored a respectable 472,000 viewers in the metro ratings.

Meanwhile Channel Nine’s quiz series The Hot Seat, hosted by Eddie McGuire, had an audience of 408,000 viewers.

It comes after Larry Emdur replaced The Chase Australia’s previous host Andrew O’Keefe in 2021.

O’Keefe has had a specular fall from grace in recent years, and in January 2022 was filmed kicking and screaming in the back of a police van after being charged with assault.
