A Colombian exchange student has described her ordeal after a man followed her home after a night out and grabbed her.

The 23-year-old student, whose name has not been released, was followed as she walked home from a nightclub on Collins Street in Melbourne on Saturday at 2am.

A man tailed her into her apartment block, got in the lift with her and then grabbed her in the hallway before she ran into her apartment and he sprinted away.

The only thing the man said to her before the attack was ‘are you Clarissa from Norway?’

Speaking to reporters this morning, the student described her harrowing ordeal.

Through tears, she said: ‘I was walking by myself for around 20 minutes. I entered my building and to enter you have to touch with a pass.

‘He took advantage… he entered behind my but I never felt that.

‘I [called] the lift. The man came in very quickly and stood in the corner. I was thinking that was strange.

I pressed the level and he never pressed anything.

The student said that she felt uneasy and so decided to ask the man a question.

‘I feel that something is bad,’ she said. ‘I asked him “‘What are you looking for?”

‘He said: “are you Clarissa from Norway?” I felt scared and said “no”.

‘He pretended to go back to the lift. I ran to the apartment and he was behind me.

‘He put his hand on my mouth and the other hand on my chest. The door was unlocked. I could open the door, I fell to the floor.’

At that point the woman’s housemate woke up and the man ran off.
