A moisturising hair treatment that was originally created for Breakfast at Tiffany’s star Audrey Hepburn is now available in Australia – and one tub sells every two minutes.

Heritage haircare label Philip Kingsley, whose founder of the same name coined the term ‘bad hair day’, created The Elasiciser as a pre-conditioning treatment for his British clientele.

It was the world’s first pre-shampoo conditioning hair serum that claims to add strength and bounce to fine, dry, brittle and coloured locks.

Australian stockist Adore Beauty is selling the hydrating ointment for $72.75 and has already attracted an average of 4.9 out of five star reviews.

‘If you’ve got unwanted frizz, or you’re feeling a bit worse for wear after colour treatments, Elasticizer has your name on it,’ the website read.

‘Suitable for all hair types, from fine to thick and tightly coiled. The only thing to watch out for is using it around a colour appointment at the salon – you’ll want to leave it alone for 72 hours either side.’

Putting it in is very simple, just apply the mask generously to the mid lengths and ends of dampened hair.

Then bundle hair up under a shower cap or towel (the warmth from your head will help it work) and let it sit for at least 20 minutes.

There’s no upper limit time-wise, so you can even leave it on overnight if you want.

Then rinse thoroughly and shampoo and condition as usual.

‘I have thick hair that can get dry, so my waves often lose their definition. But when I use this product it gives my hair lovely soft waves, almost curls! Would definitely recommend to anyone who wants to work with the natural texture of their hair,’ one woman said.
