The earliest known example of resting b**** face

Kristen Stewart, Anna Kendrick, and Victoria Beckham are all known for having ‘resting b***h face’ — but they’re far from the first women to look a bit moody when they’re not even trying. In fact, that honor goes to a girl who was alive 9,000 years ago.

Last week, news broke that scientists had reconstructed the face of a teenager from the Mesolithic period. Named Dawn, the girl surprised people with her somewhat masculine features and dour expression.

Now, some are joking that Dawn is the first known person to have resting b***h face.

Resting b***h face, or RBF, is a concept that’s been around for over a decade. It’s used to describe a person, often a woman, who’s default facial expression appears angry or annoyed.

RBF is unintentional, and a person who has it usually isn’t actually in a bad mood, but just appears to be.

Celebrities like Kristen, Anna, Victoria, Cara Delevingne, and Kanye West have all be accused of having RBF.

Kendrick even tweeted about it in 2014, writing: ‘Is there a filter on Instagram that fixes B***hy Resting Face? Asking for a friend.’

In 2016, she posted a photo of herself and fellow RBF sufferer Aubrey Plaza with the caption: ‘Intense Resting B***h Face with Aubrey Plaza! (Wasn’t kidding about that RBF.)’

But while a handful of modern-era stars may be the poster children for the phenomenon, they did not originate it.

Dawn (also known by her Greek name, Avgi) was reconstructed by scientists in orderto show what people looked like in the Mesolithic period, around 7,000 BC.

According to the experts, both men and women had more ‘masculine features’ at the time, which is apparent in Avgi’s face. She was around 15-18 years old when she died.

‘Avgi has very unique, not especially female, skull and features,’ Swedish archaeologist and sculptor Oscar Nilsson explained, according to National Geographic.

The sculptor has previously brought several ancient humans back to ‘life’ through stunning reconstructions, including an 11-year-old Athenian girl named Myrtis. But, unlike Myrtis, some of Dawn’s features are strikingly different than those common today.

‘Having reconstructed a lot of Stone Age women and men, I think some facial features seem to have disappeared or “smoothed out” with time,’ Nilsson said. ‘In general, we look less masculine, both men and women, today.’

The incredible new reconstruction was unveiled at the Acropolis Museum on Friday, by a team of researchers from the University of Athens. But, as some have noted, ‘Dawn’ doesn’t look very happy.

She has a protruding jaw, thought to be caused by chewing on animal skin to make it into soft leather — a common practice among people of that era — and a scowling expression.

The New York Post and Yahoo! Style have also cracked jokes about the facial expression.

RESEARCHERS RECONSTRUCT THE FACE OF A TEENAGER WHO LIVED 9000 YEARS AGO

Scientists have reconstructed the face of a Mesolithic teenager, ‘Dawn,’ to show what people looked like around the year 7,000 BC.

To do this, researchers took CT scans of the skull, which was discovered back in 1993 at Teopetra cave, according to National Geographic.

Then, they used a 3D printer to make an exact replica based on the real measurements.

Sculptor Oscar Nilsson then affixed pegs along the face, to show how thick her flesh was in certain regions, and map out the different features.

The process incorporates data from the skull along with information about the general population in the region at the time she was alive.

The incredible new reconstruction was unveiled at the Acropolis Museum on Friday, by a team of researchers from the University of Athens.

Asked why she looked angry, orthodontics professor Manolis Papagrikorakis, who created a silicone reconstruction of her face from a terracotta mould of her head, joked: ‘It’s not possible for her not to be angry during such an era.’

Dawn was possibly anemic and may have suffered from scurvy, the researchers said.

Evidence also pointed to hip and joint problems, which may have made it difficult for her to move and may have contributed to her death.

An analysis of her bones and teeth has helped researchers pinpoint around how old she was when she died, with the evidence suggesting she was aged between 15 and 18.

Discovered in a cave in 1993, the girl was named Avgi — Greek for Dawn — because she lived during what is considered to be the dawn of civilization.

Theopetra Cave, in the Thessaly region, was first inhabited about 100,000 years ago, according to the Culture Ministry.

Stone tools from the Palaeolithic, Mesolithic and Neolithic periods have been discovered, as well as pottery from the Neolithic period.

Dawn is on display at the Acropolis Museum in Athens.
