The Centers for Disease Control Prevention employee who mysteriously went missing over two weeks ago sent his mother a final text, as police revealed on Tuesday he was sad about being passed for a promotion.
Timothy Cunningham, 35, texted his mom, Tia-Juana Cunningham, asking, ‘are you awake?’ at 5:21am on February 12, before heading off to work the day he disappeared.
The notable epidemiologist residing in Chamblee, Georgia, informed his supervisors at the CDC he needed to go home early, suggesting he was sick.
His mom, Tia-Juana, and Timothy’s father, Terrell Cunningham, are now worried sick they may never see their son again after his disappearance.
The parents revealed they received unusual texts and calls from Timothy the night prior while speaking to Today about their contact with him before.

‘I will say that we, as a family, were aware of some personal issues that were going on with Tim. There was also some work issues that had occurred,’ Timothy’s dad, Terrell, said in the shocking new interview.
His parents could not reach him after texting and calling repeatedly, when they drove from their home in Maryland to his Georgia home.
His family reported him missing after Timothy left valuables behind that he cared about – such as his SUV, wallet, phone and beloved puppy, Beau.
‘I’m really praying that something would jog his mind and whatever state he is in, he would come back to us,’ his mom said.
‘Nothing ever stops the love of a parent… we are hopeful that are son would be found,’ his dad added.

Anterio Cunningham, Timothy’s brother, said previously he couldn’t see his brother leaving behind his job or valuables.
‘My first mind is that something has happened especially considering the length of time he’s been gone,’ Anterio said to Fox 5 Atlanta.
‘Not having his phone, leaving his dog Bo alone, he just wouldn’t voluntarily check out like that.’

The Atlantic Police Department is now treating Timothy as a missing person.
Police are holding Timothy’s phone as they investigate the case further. They say there is no evidence of foul play.
The 35-year-old is an alumni of Morehouse and Harvard. He also works as a commander in the U.S. Public Health Service.
The CDC announced in a statement Timothy is ‘a highly respected member of our CDC family.’
Anyone with information about Timothy’s whereabouts has been asked to call the Atlanta Police Department at 404-546-4235.
Police are offering a $10,000 reward for anyone with further information leading to his finding.
