A home hack star has shared how to clean the most popular kitchen appliances with only a few household ingredients and items. 

Perth mum-of-two, Carolina McCauley, uses combinations of water, baking soda, lemon, dish soap and vinegar to clean her kitchen.

Carolina begins her cleaning spree with the toasted sandwich maker and creates a solution to remove grime from the hot plates.

 She adds equal amounts of vinegar and water to a spray bottle and applies the solution to the sandwich press, which is safe to use around food, and wipes the grime from the appliance

The mum then wipes away the leftover grease and grime with a hand towel to reveal clean hot plates.

Next Carolina cleans her microwave by adding equal amounts of water and lemon juice to a heat-proof bowl.
