The Goldfish is finally revealed on The Masked Singer… as judge Jackie ‘O’ Henderson admits she had ‘given up’ on putting the star’s name forward

Monday night’s episode of The Masked Singer saw singer Christine Anu revealed as the Goldfish.

After taking off her mask, the show’s judges were left stunned, with Jackie ‘O’ Henderson admitting to having ‘given up’ on putting the 50-year-old’s name forward. 

‘The weirdest thing is we guessed your name so many times last year,’ the 45-year-old radio host said.

Fellow judge Dannii Minogue had guessed Ruby Rose, Dave Hughes put forward taekwondo gold medallist Lauren Burns, while Urzila Carlson went with Tina Arena.

The judges said Christine provided a lot of ‘sneaky clues’ prior to her reveal.

Speaking of her career, the 17-time ARIA Award nominee said that while she was inspired by Johnny Young, she knew she was never going to be ‘a Dannii Minogue’.

She also revealed that ‘for a while’, she shared her name with an ‘eastern goddess’. 

Previous clues included being ‘appreciated for the beauty’ of what she does, but nobody ever seeing all ‘the hard work that goes on behind-the-scenes’.  

Another alluded to the Olympic Games, with Christine having said: ‘I might look like a small fish, but I thrive in the big ponds’.   

She also showed off her karate skills, announcing she was bringing ‘a knockout’. 

Fans at home were shocked to see Christine revealed as the Goldfish, sharing their thoughts on Twitter. 

‘Never would’ve guessed Christine Anu for the Goldfish, but she did an amazing job and good on her for those clues!’ one wrote.

‘I’m astonished it’s Christine Anu – especially as I own most her albums,’ another said.

Others suggested Christine was ‘robbed’ of air time, having been revealed so early on in the game.

‘I wanted to hear far more of Christine Anu’s voice, even if I did know it was her from the first note she sang,’ one wrote.

Another simply stated: ‘CHRISTINE ANU WAS ROBBED’.
