After a roller-coaster year plagued with scandal and even a terrifying plot to kidnap her, one of ITV’s biggest stars, Holly Willoughby has resigned as presenter of This Morning after 14 years.
She announced her decision to leave the primetime show in an Instagram post on Tuesday, confirming that she ‘will not be returning’ to the show because she wants to focus on ‘herself and her family.’
Holly’s shock exit comes just a week after a former Pizza Hut worker was remanded in custody over an alleged plot to kidnap and murder her.
Her longtime co-host Phillip Schofield leaving This Morning earlier this year is also said to have led to her decision, after it came to light that he had lied about having an affair with a younger colleague on the show.
