In the years prior to the gruesome murder of Ms Pearce-Stevenson, who’s body was discovered in the notorious Belanglo State Forest in New South Wales Southern Highlands, Mr Holdom had established a significant rap sheet.
The former drug addict, who pleaded guilty to the double murder on Tuesday afternoon, assaulted a woman in 1999.
He allegedly broke into her room of a night and attempted to suffocate her with a pillow, before trying to strangle her.

In an eerily similar method to the murder of two-year-old Khandalyce Pearce, Mr Holdom attempted to ‘duct tape the woman’s mouth to suppress her screams.’
He was convicted of the crime in 2000.
Reports suggest young Khandalyce was likely suffocated before her body was stuffed in the black suitcase that her remains were found in almost seven years later, in July of 2015.
Her remains were discovered off the Karoonda Highway in South Australia, some 1200km away from that of her mothers, which were discovered in Ivan Milat’s notorious burial pit.

A second conviction was added to Mr Holdom’s rap sheet in 2001, when he breached an apprehended violence order by continuing to stalk a female victim.
On one occasion, he went so far as to follow the woman to a children’s day care centre, and used his vehicle to physically block her from leaving.
Then, again in 2008, Mr Holdom was back on the wrong side of the law, this time responsible for the death of two children.
He was behind the wheel of a car driving between Alice Springs and Adelaide, when the car was involved in a serious accident.

The female passenger was left wheelchair bound.
Both of her children died in the accident.
That same year, he would commit the crime that would become an unsolved mystery for years to come.
Ms Pearce-Stevenson and her daughter up-heaved their lives in Alice Springs, to stay in Canberra with Mr Holdem.
By December of that same year, it is alleged Ms Pearce-Stevenson had been murdered, and her body dumped in the forest.
In April of 2013, Mr Holdom sexually assaulted an eight-year-old child at a caravan park in the Central Coast of New South Wales
‘He told a friend that he stomped on Ms Pearce-Stevenson’s throat and crushed her windpipe,’ the Daily Telegraph reported.
‘He even took sickening photographs of her body ‘as a trophy of sorts’ that another woman found years later on an SD card.’
While Karlie was still deemed a missing person, her bank card was being regularly used, with almost $72,000 taken from her account across a period of time.
His final known crime had him locked away in prison for four years.

He was serving that jail term when he was charged with the double murder, which he vehemently denied.
While he tried to point police in another direction, they had the SD card with the graphic photos of Karlie’s body he’d previously taken.
A trial was set to begin in the coming week for the double murder, but on Tuesday, Mr Holdom entered a last minute plea.
