A flight attendant has revealed a series of tips that holiday-goers should follow every single time they check into a hotel. 

Taking to TikTok, Kat Kamalani, from the US, highlighted a number of handy hacks – including putting food in an ice bucket if there’s no refrigerator and removing decorative items on the bed such as pillows and throws because they ‘never get washed.’

In the video, which has since racked up an impressive 783,000 likes, the flight attendant can be seen entering a hotel, before explaining step-by-step precautions that can be taken to ensure a more enjoyable and pleasant stay.

She begins: ‘First thing’s first, never say your room number out loud – just in case there’s anyone around and you don’t want them knowing where you’re staying.

Always make sure there’s no one behind you when going into your room – and check if there’s anybody in the room, behind curtains, under the bed etc.’

She then goes on to highlight the importance of locking the doors – including the top lock.   

‘Next, you want to make sure for bed bugs, so check on the corners,’ Kat continues. ‘The next thing you want to do is take off any top pillows or comforters, they never wash those.’

‘Next, never put your bag on the bed. It’s been through the airport and it’s disgusting.

If you don’t have a refrigerator, out your food in an ice bucket – and there you go!’

And it seemed many people from across the globe appreciated the post, with over 2, 300 taking to the comments section.

‘Oh all great tips! Thanks,’ enthused one, while a second penned: ‘My mom is a flight attendant as well and she has told me all of these tips! Thanks for sharing.’

A third added: ‘No one listens to me when I say don’t put your suitcase on the bed, so thank you for saying it.’  

Meanwhile, another offered her own advice and wrote: ‘Also, don’t drink from the cups at the hotel rooms. They only rinse them with water, unlike in a restaurant where they get disinfected.’
