The huge changes coming to McDonald’s in Australia

The huge changes coming to McDonald’s in Australia – and why burgers will be cooked for EXACTLY 40 seconds

  • Fast food chain has changed Big Macs, Quarter Pounders and cheeseburgers
  • Beef patties will be cooked with onions for exactly 40 seconds on the grill
  • An extra dollop of special sauce will now also be added to Big Mac burgers

Big changes are set to be introduced to some of the most popular items on the McDonald’s menu.

The fast food chain has found ways to make its Big Macs, Quarter Pounders and cheeseburgers ‘hotter, juicier and tastier’ after the company spent ‘countless hours optimising the cooking process’.

McDonald’s Australia vice president of operations Sharon Paz said beef would now be cooked for exactly 40 seconds on the grill to ensure the meat is the ‘juiciest patty our customers have ever had’.

An extra dollop of special sauce will also be added to Big Mac burgers, while onions will be cooked on the grill together with patties.

Ms Paz said the changes to the McDonald’s menu had been developed over 18 months, and will be introduced in Australia first before being brought in worldwide.

Burger buns will be hotter when they are served, and Ms Paz said the company had also changed the distribution of sesame seeds on top.

‘We’re incredibly proud of the quality of the food we serve our customers, but we are always looking for ways to give our customers the best tasting menu we can,’ Ms Paz said.

‘We’ve reviewed all of the steps and elements that go into serving our classic burgers to ensure they are the very best they can be – and here in Australia, we’ll be the first country in the world to serve these hotter, juicier and tastier burgers at every one of our restaurants.

‘We’ve undertaken extensive research, testing and trials as we’ve developed our new restaurant processes and are confident our customers will agree our burgers taste better than ever before.’

The changes to the Big Mac, quarter pounder and cheeseburger will come into effect on Wednesday.
