The Irwin family make exciting announcement about the future of Australia Zoo – and fans are not happy after shock news

Bindi Irwin has shared an exciting announcement about the future of the family’s Australia Zoo on the Sunshine Coast in Queensland.

The celebrity conservationist, 26, revealed that the luxury new cabins at the Zoo’s Crocodile Hunter Lodge were now completed and ready to take bookings.

She shared a gallery of photos which showcased the cabins, which feature gorgeous spacious rooms, breathtaking nature views and all the luxuries of a five-star hotel.

Bindi captioned the gallery with some exciting words: ‘Our new cabins. @crocodilehunterlodge + my husband = in love. Come stay in our utterly breathtaking two storey cabins.’

‘Our best and newest luxury cabins!’ Bindi’s mother Terri Irwin added.

However, fans may need to save up for quite some time to stay there as bookings on their website currently have a three-night minimum stay at $6,397 – or just over $2,100 a night.

Bindi’s followers quickly took to social media to express their frustration at not being able to afford a booking.

‘If I ever become loaded, you will find me here,’ one person wrote.

‘I want to so bad but it is a little too expensive,’ a second user added.

‘Why can’t I be rich?’ a third person mused.

Last year, Bindi’s brother Robert gave fans a tour of Crocodile Hunter Lodge and revealed how the family incorporated his father’s legacy throughout the hotel.

Opening in 2022, Crocodile Hunter Lodge was a longtime dream of the late ‘crocodile hunter’ Steve Irwin, who wanted to open luxury accommodation at the Zoo.

Taking to social media, Robert showed viewers how guests are welcomed by three large bottle trees which were planted by Steve.

‘These are dad’s trees. These bottle trees were originally planted by him in the Zoo and we moved them to welcome our guests in as the perfect welcome statement,’ he explained.

The zookeeper went on to reveal the hotel’s welcome doors were made out of timber from a crocodile grandstand his father built.

The grandstand timber was also used to frame heartwarming photographs of the Irwin family for visitors to admire.

Robert moved the tour into the hotel’s fine dining restaurant Warrior, named in tribute to Steve and his granddaughter Grace Warrior.

He said the restaurant is made of a rammed earth construction in tribute to his father’s desire for a sustainable future.

In December 2022, the Irwin family spoke about the importance of continuing Steve’s legacy by building the lodge.

‘This is an exciting time for us as a family to be able to continue on what dad’s vision was for Australia Zoo,’ Bindi said at the time.

Steve’s widow Terri added her beloved husband always had a dream that visitors could not only visit Australia Zoo, but stay overnight for an immersive experience.
