The Kyle and Jackie O Show forced off air as one of their producers resigns in the middle of the show

The Kyle and Jackie O Show was plunged into chaos on Friday morning, after a producer unexpectedly quit in the middle of the show, forcing it off the air.

Kyle Sandilands, 52, and Jackie ‘O’ Henderson, 48, were presenting as usual when their non-binary producer Kayla made the bombshell announcement.

Upon hearing the news, Kyle was so shocked by it he spilled the coffee they were handing him onto the computer, short circuiting the system and taking them off the air.

‘We’re in a weird studio because I knocked coffee all down the computers. Non-binary Kayla came in and gave me the very sad news,’ he later told listeners.

‘They’re abandoning us to live their own life. As they were handing the coffee over I grabbed it and was in such shock I spilt it all over the equipment.’

The shock incident saw the breakfast show off the air for almost an hour as technicians worked hard to repair the studio and Kyle and Jackie O were moved to a nearby one.

Fortunately, their technicians managed to get them back on the air and Kyle thanked them for their hard work.

It comes after reports that Kyle and Jackie O are reportedly preparing to sign a new lucrative deal with their Australian Radio Network (ARN) bosses.

The radio duo are set to earn a combined $200million over the course of a 10-year contract, the Australian Financial Review.

The shock jock team are also preparing to dominate markets outside their Sydney-based audience and extend their reach into Melbourne for the first time.

They could also reportedly earn up to $230 million over 10 years if they increase the station’s breakfast ratings in Victoria.

The popular radio duo could start broadcasting in Melbourne as early as next year.

Earlier this year, it was revealed Kyle and Jackie O triumphed in the sixth radio ratings of the year.

KIIS FM’s The Kyle and Jackie O Show beat 2GB’s Ben Fordham in Sydney, gaining a massive 14.7 per cent audience share (up 0.8 per cent from last year).
