The Masked Singer UK: Lulu, 74, revealed as Piece of Cake in the shows second elimination

The Masked Singer returned to TV screens on Saturday night with six unknown celebrity contestants taking to the stage. 

After battling it out against Rhino, legendary singer Lulu, 74, was revealed to be hiding under the costume, much to the shock of judges Rita Ora, Jonathan Ross, Davina McCall and Mo Gilligan. 

Despite belting out her rendition of Ed Sheeran’s hit song Shiver, the star unfortunately found herself in the bottom three alongside Jacket Potato and Rubbish.

‘Oh my God, Lulu, I love you!’ exclaimed Rita, as Lulu lifted off her sequinned cherry mask to revealed her identity. 

Reflecting on her clues Lulu explained: ‘The well was a huge clue!’ before she belted out her hit single Shout, ‘Well, you make me wanna shout!’

The Scottish star lost her place in the competition after the judges chose to save Rubbish and Jacket Potato.

In the first round, Jacket Potato battled it out against Fawn, taking to the stage with Viva Las Vegas. 

Fawn impressed viewers at home with Beauty and the Beast, leaving Jacket Potato to become the first contestant in the bottom three.

Next up was Rubbish, who jested: ‘I’m the one you’ve been waiting for and I’m here to work, cleaning up is what I do best. 

‘I’m here to pick up litter or as some call it garbage, we’re all solo,’ he said, giving a clue to his identity. 

The character sang Robbie Williams hit track, Let Me Entertain You, as he fought Pigeon for a place in the next round.

Pigeon belted out No Scrubs by TLC to the crowds delight, after she said: ‘I might be an old bird but let me tell you ageing has never bothered me. 

‘I’m unflappable, I’m not afraid of asking tough questions. Will I be competitive? Same as always babes, but only with myself.’ 

Finally it was Piece of Cake and Rhino’s turn to perform, speaking before Piece of Cake said: ‘We’re often at the centre of a celebration but can I handle the competition, oh piece of cake!

‘My icing is white pinkish and blue, as a confectionary I’m part of a select few.’

Rhino impressed the judges with Snow Patrol’s Chasing Cars, leaving Cake in the bottom three. 

Giving a clue before his performance, Rhino said: ‘Although I look pretty tough and serious on the outside, you realise that I’m a soft kind of fella. I wanna make sure that we have a nice fair game. Do you feel lucky, punks?’ 

Last weekend, Chris Kamara was unmasked as Ghost in the first elimination – after being diagnosed with apraxia of speech.

The former Sky Sports pundit, 64, was revealed to be hiding under the ghost costume in the new series debut episode.

He said he had done the show for his grandchildren, saying: ‘My grandkids, we’ll sit around together and they’ll have no idea. They love this show. They just sing ‘take it off’ and grandad’s going to turn around!’

Chris also explained several of the clues about his identity, sharing that he previously had two albums out, and has done duets with big stars, such as Robbie Williams and Danny Jones.
