The Matrix star Carrie-Anne Moss, 56, reveals real reason she left Los Angeles after 30 years and moved her family to New Hampshire

The Matrix star Carrie-Anne Moss has revealed the real reason she left Los Angeles behind after 30 years – and moved to rural new Hampshire.

The actress, 56, who played Trinity in the Matrix series alongside Keanu Reeves’ Neo, relocated with husband Steven Roy and their three children in 2020.

The star told People her family were seeking a ‘quieter life’ with more ‘connection to nature’ after decades in the City of Angels.

She said: ‘We were just really craving a quieter life, less traffic, more nature — and I have to say, I like change. My husband and I really wanted more connection to nature, really. I wanted to see the stars at night. I wanted to be surrounded by trees. I wanted to have winter, fall, spring, summer.’

The star first moved to LA in the early 1990s as she filmed Dark Justice. In 1999 she landed the role that would change her life in The Matrix.

She said: ‘Never thought in a million years I would get it, Getting that job was the moment that transformed a lot in my life, for sure.’

Moss said the move has allowed her to pursue meditation and Kundalini yoga – which in turn has helped her parent her children, now aged 21, 18 and 15.

The star will mark her 25th wedding anniversary with her husband this year and gushed: ‘There’s no one I’d rather talk to than my husband.

‘We both just are in love with what we’ve created together, and we have a lot of fun.’

The Matrix (1999), The Matrix Reloaded (2003), and The Matrix Revolutions (2003) – amassed an eye-popping $1.633B at the global box office.

The Matrix Resurrections was released in 2021 but flopped at the box office.

Carrie-Anne has also starred in Memento, Chocolat, Disturbia, and Red Planet – along with Netflix’s Jessica Jones.

In 2021 the star laughed over notions Hollywood had ‘turned its back on her’ telling GQ: ‘Somebody sent me one thing, a video someone had made.

‘”What happened to Carrie-Anne Moss? Why did Hollywood turn their back on her?” Or something like that. I was like, funny! I had kids, and I wanted to be with them.’

Moss  plays a Jedi Master named Indara in the action-packed new Star Wars series, The Acolyte.

Very little is known about the Star Wars series at this moment, except that it takes place roughly 100 years before the events of the first Star Wars prequel film, 1999’s The Phantom Menace.

The show will give fans a glimpse into the end of what has become known as the High Republic Era in Star Wars lore.

The Acolyte will follow a former Padawan (Stenberg) who reunites with the Jedi Master (Squid Game star Lee Jung-ja) who taught her, to investigate a series of crimes.

The series is created by longtime Star Wars fan Lesyle Headland, best known for creating the Netflix series Russian Doll.

The Acolyte will represent a few firsts in Star Wars history, including it being the first program to be told through the evil Sith’s point of view.

It will also represent the earliest TV show or movie set within the Star Wars timeline, a full century before the prequel trilogy.
