Lorde flashed her rarely-seen tattoo as she arrived at ABC Studios in Sydney on Monday.

The Kiwi singer, 28, has a long red stripe inked on her left hand.

Lorde has previously revealed the tattoo is a tribute to her late dog Pearl, who died in 2019, and is the marking of a scratch the pooch gave her when she was a puppy.

For her studio visit, the Royals star, 28, went casual chic in a plain sleeveless white top paired with jeans.

Her hair was styled in natural waves and she showcased her natural beauty by wearing a minimal makeup palette.

In 2019, Lorde credited her late pooch Pearl for influencing much of her music.

She revealed in an emotional newsletter sent to her fans that the death of her dog Pearl slowed down the roll-out of her third album.

Lorde opened her letter with an explanation for her recent silence.

‘When we first met I would write little notes for you online, and they would form a big map that you would use to chart the constellations in my work,’ she began.

‘I realised a couple of years ago that I needed to rethink my relationship with posting random shit online all the time, so here we are, a little less in contact than we once were,’ she added.

She went on to explain that her dog Pearl had died the previous month.

‘Pearl came into my life in 2018, and almost immediately changed everything for me,’ she wrote.

‘As anyone who has had the pleasure of raising a dog can understand, my life grew exponentially. Pearl brought an immeasurable amount of joy and purpose into my world.’

The Royals singer went on to describe the difficulties of caring for her pooch, who suffered from an illness throughout their time together that was difficult to diagnose.

After the dog lost a concerning amount of weight, a specialist ‘honed in on the problem’ and prescribed necessary medication.

Yet even as ‘everything was looking good’ Pearl’s health took a sudden turn for the worst.

‘One day we woke up and I knew, in that way mothers do, that he was sicker than we had realised, and that we were nearing a point where his body wasn’t going to be able to cope,’ she wrote.

‘Pearl had two cardiac arrests about an hour apart, and after the second one, he died,’ she continued.

‘I was holding him when he went, and I knew he knew that I was there. But this loss has been indescribably painful, and a light that was turned on for me has gone out.’
