CS:GO is the fourth game of the insanely popular Counter-Strike series. Counter-Strike: Global Offensive is a multiplayer first-person shooter game. It was developed by Hidden Path Entertainment and Valve. CS:GO was released for PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, macOS, and Windows in 2012. Then in 2014, it was released for Linux as well. Valve keeps updating the game on a regular basis.
In the game, there are basically two teams – the Terrorist team and the Counter-Terrorists team. The game modes are objective-based and these two teams go against each other in the game. Usually, the Terrorist team plant a bomb, meanwhile, the Counter-Terrorists team try to stop them.
Sometimes, the Terrorists capture hostages, and meanwhile, the Counter-Terrorists plan on rescuing them. There are eight game modes in total (Danger Zone, Flying Scoutsman, Wingman, Demolition, Arms Race, Deathmatch, Casual, and Competitive), each having distinctive characteristics. In the competitive mode, there are two teams of five players who play against each other in a best-of-thirty match.
In this mode, the players have a skill rank and they are paired with other players and against other players based on these ranks. The Deathmatch and the Casual modes are less serious compared to the Competitive mode and they do not register friendly fire.
The Demolition mode is a bomb-defuse game mode It allows players to upgrade their guns if they have killed an enemy in the round before. The Wingman mode is a two-on-two bomb-defuse game mode that has over 16 rounds. It is quite similar to the Competitive mode. Here also, players are paired on the basis of their skill ranking.
In the Flying Scoutsman mode, the player is only equipped with a low-gravity map, a knife, and an SG08. The Danger Zone mode is a battle royale mode. Here, a team of 18 players (maximum) searches for money, equipment, and weapons for the aim of being the last team or person remaining. Valve also introduced an official practice mode known as the Weapons Course that is specifically designed for helping new players to learn how to use grenades and guns.
When this game was released, the critics gave a lot of positive reviews and praised the game for the game’s unique gameplay and for staying true to the Counter-Strike series. Although, it received some criticisms because of the differences between the PC and the console version and for some of its early features. Since the day it was released, it has gained a lot of popularity. It has drawn almost 11 million players each month and has consistently been one of the most popular games on Valve’s platform.
