The new life and new love of Olympics darling Nikki Webster’s violent ex-husband – as Qantas flight attendant moves on from Australia’s opening ceremony sweetheart

Nikki Webster’s estranged ex-husband has found love again after a highly-publicised marriage breakdown which saw him charged with domestic violence offences.

Matthew McMah’s marriage to the Sydney Olympics opening ceremony sweetheart ended in bitterness after the couple were embroiled in a roadside bust up in 2019.

Now the Qantas flight attendant, 44, has moved on and found love with mum-of-two Veronica Attard, who he has been quietly dating since 2022.

The loved-up couple purchased a home together in Sydney’s west last year, sharing the moment on social media as they posed together in front of the ‘sold’ sign.

McMah’s relationship joy comes after his famous ex made a sad admission to Woman’s Day Magazine that she is still looking for love after her marriage bust-up.

The singer, 37, said she was so busy raising her two children that looking for Mr Right had taken a backseat.

‘I hope one day the right person will come along and it will just happen,’ she said. ‘But I’m really happy with being a mum, it’s my favourite job in the world.’

But Nikki admitted she did not even know where to now begin looking for love.

‘What do you do, where do you go? Online dating is a whole new world,’ she admitted.

The former child star found fame at the opening of the 2000 Olympics in Sydney and later topped the charts with her hit single Strawberry Kisses.

McMah proposed to Webster during a romantic holiday to Fiji in 2010, two and a half years after they first started dating.

The former couple tied the knot in 2012 and share children, Skylah, 9, and Malachi, 6.

Their marriage came to a dramatic end in 2019 when the pair got into a heated argument.

McMah pulled up in his car outside Nikki’s Leichhardt dance studio in Sydney’s inner west and Webster opened the car door and leaned inside.

McMah then ‘began slowly rolling the car forward a short distance and stopped’, according to a police statement of facts.

He demanded she close the door and, when she did not, he got out and grabbed her forearms ‘causing immediate pain and causing her to fall to the ground’.

Webster then ran into the studio and called police.

After McMah was arrested he told officers that he ‘pulled the (Webster’s) arm away from his car and that she fell over after he let her go’.

He was convicted of common assault, domestic violence, and fined $800.
