And where Ratchada night market in Thailand’s capital city is concerned, that’s certainly true – as stunning aerial shots of the popular tourist spot have proved.
While shoppers are often struck by the ground-level sights and sounds of the multi-coloured vendor tents, bird’s-eye images have revealed its similarity to 80s computer game Tetris.

Remarkable photographs of the popular site depict the multi-coloured rows of stalls, which form a maze in the metropolis.
Dramatic red, blue, pink, yellow, green and white canopies are brought to life by the lights, which display the goods on offer, from classic motorbikes to T-shirts.
And, although they are suitably spaced out for shoppers’ comfort, the aerial angle makes them look tightly-packed – much like the pieces moved by Tetris players.

Highly-recommended by travel experts, the stalls have become a must-see for visitors to the Asian city. Amateur photographer Kajan Madrasmail, 38, from Singapore, said: ‘The market comes alive in the evening.’
Detailing the site, TripAdvisor reviewer AlevtinaS2, from Pennsylvania, wrote: ‘One of my favorite Bangkok hangouts, for sure! Really glad that my man and I had done a bit of research before the trip and focused on the must-see nightlife spots. Ratchada was such a gem!
‘Located roughly three stops away from the Suthisan train station, the night market was teeming with people but I did not feel touristy in the slightest. It was quite a breath of fresh air.’
