The Premier League will face accusations of racial discrimination at a tribunal later this month with the top-flight’s chief executive Richard Masters named as a defendant for forthcoming court date

The Premier League will face accusations of racial discrimination at an employment tribunal later this month.

Among those named as defendants on documents confirming the forthcoming court date is chief executive Richard Masters, who replaced former Premier League head Richard Scudamore in 2019.

Mail Sport revealed in June that the governing body was facing two separate legal battles following race-related accusations made by two separate employees.

The first of those cases has now been confirmed to be heard on January 15; Moloud Ghashghee – an IT technician at the Premier League – listed as the claimant.

In addition to Masters, director of people Catherine Paterson is also named as a respondent on court listings.

At the time, sources indicated that the disability part of the complaint formed a substantial section of the employee’s legal case.

In addition to the forthcoming hearing, Kay Badu, a former member of the Premier League’s diversity and inclusion team, has launched his own legal claim against the organisation.

The Premier League opened an official investigation into allegations of internal racism made by Badu, but the subsequent probe, carried out by an independent barrister, effectively cleared the organisation and its employees of discrimination.

Badu, who strenuously disagrees with the findings of the Premier League’s investigation, is now combining his own legal case on the grounds of racial discrimination, victimisation and harassment ahead of a court date later this year.
