Christian woman’s brutal message to comedian who made offensive joke about Jesus on The Project as calls grow to cancel the show

A Christian woman has joined the pile-on against The Project and lashed out at the gay comedian at the centre of the backlash.
Kailtin Lees slammed Reuben Kaye labelling him a hypocrite over his X-rated gag on the Channel 10 program on Tuesday.
‘I love Jesus, I love any man who can get nailed for three days straight and come back for more,’ he said.
Hosts Waleed Aly and Sarah Harris were forced to issue a grovelling apology the following day while calls have continued to grow for the show to be cancelled.
Ms Lees questioned why Kaye was allowed to make a joke about religion while people couldn’t make jokes at the expense of the LGBTQI community.

‘And then you make a cheap, tacky sexualised joke about people’s Lord and saviour, yeah Jesus Christ, bit of a big deal,’ Ms Lees said in a TikTok video.
‘You’re allowed to do that, but we’re not allowed to take the piss out of the alphabet gag at all, even though you do some pretty f***ing funny s***, to be fair.’
Ms Lees said if she had made a similar joke about the gay community she would be cancelled and her career would be over.
‘But it’s fine for you to take the piss out of other people’s beliefs, but we’re not, what? Sorry, but it seems a little bit hypocritical. Okay, see you,’ she said.
The Project is continuing to face calls for the program to be cancelled following the guest appearance by Kaye.
The backlash from Muslims and Christians was swift and brutal prompting Aly and Harris to issue an apology for the segment the following night on Wednesday.
‘During an interview last night our guest told a joke which we know was deeply and needlessly offensive to many of you,’ Aly said.
‘We want to acknowledge the particular offence that caused our Muslim viewers but especially our Christian viewers.
‘Obviously I understand just how profound that offence was.’
Harris, who burst out laughing after the joke, also joined the grovelling apology.
‘Live TV is unpredictable and when this happened in the last few moments of last night’s show, it took us all by surprise, there wasn’t a lot of time to react in any sort of considered way,’ she said.

Aly insisted it took the program’s producers and panel by surprise.
‘It’s fair to say we weren’t expecting a comment like that to be made,’ he said.
‘We wouldn’t normally broadcast a comment like that. We acknowledge the offence it caused and more than that we’re sorry.’
The apology didn’t go down well with Omar Slaimankhel, who last year became the biggest winner in the history of The Block with his mate Ozman ‘Oz’ Abu Malik.
Slaimankhel accused Harris of hypocrisy for laughing at the off-colour joke only to apologise for it 24 hours later when she realised some viewers found it offensive.
He posted a screenshot on Instagram of the pair’s stony-faced apology, and wrote: ‘She was pissing herself laughing and now wants to apologise.’
Slaimankhel also called The Project ‘trash TV’ for giving a platform to an anti-religious comedian like Kaye.
The show’s social media posts are being spammed with the hashtags #CancelTheProject and #BoycottTheProject in what is a seemingly organised effort.
